Summer is the season of weddings, vacations and events that require a suit. But just because it’s hot doesn’t mean you have to wear a heavy wool coat that will make you sweat like a madman.
Instead, look for a light, breathable suit in a color that fits the occasion. Black is perfect for your summer wedding, while navy suits are great for business meetings in the tropics. Sand, or even khaki suits will be a smart choice for beach weddings and other semi-formal events. Greys are good for any occasion as well and offer a little more formality than lighter shades.
The best summer suits will be made of a breathable fabric, such as cotton, linen or a brushed cotton. These fabrics are lightweight and will breathe better than wool or wool blends. They will also wrinkle more easily but the crumpled look gives your suit a stylish, relaxed feel.
Alternatively, consider a seersucker suit. The raised puckers on this fabric allow for a slight air flow, which will help keep you cool and comfortable all day long.
Daniel Johnson recommends wearing a light shirt with a stone-colored suit, “or else you risk veering into Al Capone or nightclub bouncer territory.” Jack McLaren-Stewart thinks you could skip the tie altogether, as summer suiting leans more casual. Summer suits
