The deal marks the latest acquisition for Barcelona-based TravelPerk, which has been on a buying spree since the pandemic started. Its other deals include the purchase of risk management startup Albatross in summer 2020 and US-based NexTravel in January 2021. Founder and CEO Per Meir says the company will retain Click Travel’s staff and its Birmingham office. He adds that the two platforms will remain independent at first but an eventual full integration is planned. Meir has also denied reports of job cuts and claims that TravelPerk is still recruiting new staff to cope with the upcoming busy season. Meir’s statements will likely soothe domestic concerns over a UK-based high-growth startup being sold to a European rival, but the exact terms of the deal haven’t been revealed.
