The MCU was completely destroyed last year. It will all be reassembled in just a few months (probably), but the way that happens, who survives, and what it all means for Phase 4 are still very much up in the air. Even the filmmakers haven’t decided how the film will end, according to Mark Ruffalo. There has been plenty of speculation about how the film will tie up its many story threads, even if it’s unlikely.
As we approach the halfway point of the long, painful wait between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, let’s take a closer look at some of the most promising fan theories. Let us know in the comments if you have any of your own theories that we haven’t covered.
List of Avengers Endgame Theories
Here are the following endgame avenger’s theories for you.
-
Captain America Will Die
There is only one sacrificial victim for the Stone, and it will be Captain America – with Steve choosing death so that someone else (probably Tony) can use the Infinity Gauntlet to save half the world.
The likelihood of this happening is high. He tweeted a permanent farewell farewell on his last day on set, pretty much confirming that he’s done with the MCU. His contract ends after Avengers: Endgame, and he does not seem to be signed on for any further films (yet), so all indications are that he will be leaving permanently following the next movie. In my opinion, the only way Marvel can kill off Captain America is with an act of self-sacrifice that saves humanity, so this seems the most likely scenario. Whether or not Tony is the one he does it for is less certain.

Everyone Will Be Saved by Goose the Cat
The cute feline friend of Captain Marvel and Nick Fury is not a cat at all, but a Flerken instead. Flerkens in comic books are also transport hubs – living gateways to pocket dimensions. It is possible to travel to other times, places, or dimensions using Flerkens… One popular theory suggests that everyone who died when Thanos snapped his finger actually travelled to another dimension – and the remaining Avengers just need to retrieve them. The Flerken is a great way to do that.
Well, Captain Marvel alluded to the pocket dimension ability – which explained how Goose chewed up and swallowed the Tesseract (aka the Space Stone), before spewing it out on Fury’s desk. The theory that Goose could be the MCU’s savior does seem a bit far-fetched for the film. We’d be happy to see more of her in the future, but bringing her back as the film’s ultimate winner is a bit too far-fetched.

Everyone Will Be Saved by Gamora
Gamora appeared more dead than the others since she had been thrown into a bottomless void instead of being turned into dust like everyone else. The truth is that she’s more alive than dead – and she’s going to play a crucial role inside the Soul Stone. In the stone’s plane of reality (the orange world where Thanos met Gamora when she was a teenager), we’ve already seen a glimpse of her, and her past relationship with Thanos will be the key to her escape. It is she who will wield the gauntlet, she who will defeat Thanos, and she who will save everyone else.
The likelihood of this happening is very high. It makes sense that Gamora will deal with Thanos since her story is the one most closely related to him. Despite Gamora’s ties to Thanos, it is more likely that she will be the one wielding the gauntlet in the MCU rather than her sister. What will she do once she escapes?
